How we build the cost ranges

Every price range on this site starts from a mix of sources: rate information providers publish themselves, quotes readers have shared with us after booking an actual move, and periodic moving-industry cost surveys. A new figure gets checked against at least one other source before it replaces an existing range, rather than one quote standing in for the whole market.

How often figures get updated

Container pricing moves with fuel costs, provider capacity, and the season, so we revisit the ranges on a rolling basis instead of a fixed yearly schedule. Each page carries an updated date in the byline. If a number looks stale to you, the contact page is the fastest way to get it checked against current provider rates.

Corrections

When a reader flags something that looks wrong, we check it against current provider information before changing the page. If the correction holds up, we update the figure and move the date forward. We would rather fix a mistake quietly and quickly than leave it standing because changing it is inconvenient.

How the affiliate relationships work

Several buttons on this site, including the ones labeled "Size it up" or "See real container quotes," send you to a provider's own quote form. If you request a quote through one of those links and go on to book, the provider may pay us a referral fee. That fee does not change your price, and it does not decide which providers show up on this site or how favorably we describe them.
